Company Overview
For eight years in Washington, D.C., professionals from all walks of life have made the decision to change their lives by teaching in DC Public Schools. DC Teaching Fellows are just like you- engineers, clergy, federal employees, lawyers, journalists, social workers, and others who realize that they want to address inequalities in education by teaching. Established in 2001, the DC Teaching Fellows program upholds the conviction that public schools can work, but they must be staffed and led by our most talented and accomplished citizens.
The DC Teaching Fellows recruits a range of diverse applicants who have shown a record of commitment and achievement in past endeavors. We look for creative, patient and flexible candidates who understand the level of dedication it takes to improve a system, one classroom at a time. As a Fellow, you will join close to 700 talented individuals who have passed through a rigorous selection process and trained in an intensive pre-service program to become teachers in the DC public schools. You will become enrolled in a teacher certification program at either The George Washington University or American University, with the option to obtain a Master's degree in an area of education; simultaneously, you will receive a full teacher's salary, medical and dental benefits, and resources from administrative program staff while teaching in the District of Columbia Public Schools. Of course, the greatest benefit that DC Teaching Fellows receive is the opportunity to make an incredible, positive impact on the lives of DC’s children in schools where they are needed most. DC Teaching Fellows is committed to providing the District's students with a new generation of educators who will work relentlessly to ensure their academic success. |
